Five spice powder is a popular Chinese spice, and I normally buy it pre-mixed. But in case of emergency, this will do:

| 1 g | Sichuan pepper | 1 | ||
| 3 g | Star anise | 1 | ||
| 1 g | Cloves | 1 | ||
| 1.5 g | Fennel seed | 1 | ||
| 2.5 g | Cumin seed | 1 | ||
Grind finely.
