Bread sauce is one of the traditional accompaniments that I make for Christmas. It's
literally made from bread and milk, but tastes surprisingly good with turkey.
Ingredients

ingredient |
| 250 ml |
milk |
| 30 g |
butter |
| 45 g |
white, soggy English-style bread with crust cut off |
| 1 |
small onion stuck with cloves |
| 4 g
|
salt |
|
|
(white) pepper |
Put ingredients into a small saucepan, then tear the bread into small pieces and add to
the milk. Warm slowly, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up the bread. When it comes to
the boil, continue to break up until the sauce is smooth. Simmer for about 5 minutes, then
leave for at least half an hour. Warm up before serving.
