This is a historical document, converted to modern format in February 2026. Nothing
else has changed. It was originally created on 15 November 1998.
For a long time, we wondered where the pipe from the dam down to the house was located. Now
we know. We also discovered a tap to turn the bloody thing off (after we had been told
there was none, and I had got myself soaked trying to extract yabbies from the system while
the water was flowing).
Somewhat overexposed (the QV5000 will perform fill-in flash if you ask it,
but it appears not to compensate with the exposure) and only partially
compensated: this is the tap that was supposed not to exist. I couldn't be
bothered to take another photo, since I have to reboot a machine with Microsoft
every time: Casio doesn't supply any other way of downloading images.
This pipe went straight through the proposed dam, so we decided to move it to
the right (pointing to the gum tree) and then bring it down at right angles to
the tap.
Tuesday, the 17th. The top dam was pretty much empty by this time, having filled the pond
much more than we expected.
