This is one of many pages describing plants and animal life that we have in our garden. In many cases, we don't know what they are. Comments welcome.

I originally thought that all these plants were bottlebrushes (Callistemon), but I'm no longer so sure. I certainly don't know what kind they are.
This one is almost certainly a bottlebrush. It was completely overgrown when we moved in, and shortly after this photo was taken, I pruned it radically:
The tree responded well to the pruning, despite the wrong time of year. Next to it is another suspected bottlebrush:
I suspect the tree below one is really a melaleuca. The brushes grow on established wood on the stem. I'll get more photos next time it blooms.
