This is random stuff that needs to go elsewhere if I ever finish installing hydra.

Sysconfig

This is a still-not-dead configuration storage system.

mkdir -p /home/Sysconfig/MasterRCS

Then in each directory that needs an RCS direction,

mkRCS

This sets up symlinks to store all the RCS information in one place.

Symlinks

~/public_html/photos/RCS needs to be system independent.

Mail

Copy parms from eureka:

Sending mail uses /etc/aliases independently of the MTA. Modify to point all to grog.

And then there's mail. Decades ago (2003/04/17 04:07:38) I started modifying /etc/aliases to create fantasy emails. Nowadays this is handled by /usr/local/etc/postfix/virtual, and I thought that /etc/aliases had done its dash. But no, /usr/bin/mail still uses it, so I need the one entry

Also decades ago I ran into trouble with Mutt (mail client): I couldn't get to the end of the folder with the specified character, so I changed it to G. And that config file isn't on hydra, so it doesn't work. That's one to look at when I have time.

Install openjdk (check version required my MediathekView).

This OpenJDK implementation requires fdescfs(5) mounted on /dev/fd and procfs(5) mounted on /proc. If you have not done it yet, please do the following: mount -t fdescfs fdesc /dev/fd mount -t procfs proc /proc To make it permanent, you need the following lines in /etc/fstab: fdesc /dev/fd fdescfs rw 0 0 proc /proc procfs rw 0 0
