How do we teach a horse to have his feet handled safely? No problem with Clicker Training, of course! Some of my Pasos volunteered to be the guinea pigs: Serafina, 15 months old, a Purebred Arab/Peruvian Paso cross filly; El Mago Negro, 2 1/2 years old, a Peruvian Paso/Paso Fino cross gelding, and Flamenca (MGR La Tigre), a Peruvian Paso mare, currently in foal to Capoeira, PP. Hmm,, whom do I pick first?
Desensitzing Mago with the whip all over his body
Down to the front feet....
.... and the hind feet
Can I touch your legs with my hand? Yes!
Picking up a front hoof
Serafina's turn now: picking up hind foot at liberty
Preparing for the farrier
They can be a bit overwhelming at times!

Resting her hoof on the whip

Pick me, pleeeeease!
And if I do a spanish salute?
Sideways at liberty
Aaaah, at last! Flamenca is allowed to show off!
