In September last year I was given a couple of hop plants: a Pride of Ringwood by Thomas Hamann, and some kind of Hallertauer by Gavin Scarman. It was already a bit late for planting, and hops don't flower the first year anyway, so I didn't bother wiring them.
The Pride of Ringwood is doing very nicely, happily wrapping itself around a nearby plant and up a wire which happens to be hanging there. The Hallertauer is not looking nearly as happy. Gavin tells me that he has had almost no flowers on his Hallertauers either, though they should be bearing this year.
If anybody has a Tettnang rhizome going begging, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
