From grog@lemis.com Thu Jun 6 15:35:56 2013 Date: Thu, 6 Jun 2013 15:35:56 +1000 From: Greg 'groggy' Lehey To: Jenny Blake Cc: Denis Napthine Subject: Please expedite a mobile phone tower for Dereel Message-ID: <20130606053556.GF94248@eureka.lemis.com> WWW-Home-Page: http://www.lemis.com/grog Mayor, I have just been informed that the Premier has received a letter from Telstra indicating that the residents of Dereel do not wish to have a mobile phone tower in Dereel. I believe this claim to be incorrect. I'm sure that you have heard enough of this matter in connection with the recent approval of the NBN communications tower. In his submissions to the planning committee meeting of 13 March 2012, Scott Weston provided names and statements from 188 people expressing their support for a communications tower. The wording of these statements makes it clear that they apply not only to computer networking, but also to mobile telephony. Only four residents opposed the tower. In the wake of the Dereel bushfire ion 28 March, the Premier was specifically asked to ensure that a mobile phone tower would be given priority, a request which he accepted. There was no dissenting voice at this time. I believe that Telstra is working with out-of-date and one-sided information. I would like to express both my support and that of my wife Yvonne for not one, but two mobile phone towers in Dereel, both Optus and Telstra. Sincerely Greg Lehey -- Sent from my desktop computer.
