Cream the butter, sugar and essence until pale and fluffy. Beat in the egg a little at a time. Fold in the flour with seeds, adding a little milk if necessary to give a good fropping consistancy. Put into the tin and bake just below the center of the oven . Cook for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours at 350F (gas mark 4) and cool on a wire rack. Recipe from "Good Housekeeping" first published in 1948
