It was served at my rehearsal party when I was getting married and not a soul left without the recipe in their pocket. CHEESE LOG ~~~~~~~~~~ Ingredients: ----------- 1 lb Velveeta Cheese 1 - 8oz pkg. Philadelphia Cream Cheese 3 Cloves Garlic Chopped Pecans Chili Powder To Prepare: ---------- ~ Cut two pieces of wax paper, and put chili powder on one, pecans on second. ~ Mix cheeses and garlic (crushed in a garlic press), and form finished product into a roll (or two if you prefer) ~ IMPORTANT - Cover hands with butter to roll ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Roll cheese log first through chili powder, second through pecans ~ Wrap in foil and chill ~ Best served with crackers but also great on its own (a little messy though) ENJOY!! COOKING TIME 15-20 MINUTES 3/4 LB GRATED GRUYERE CHEESE 2 TBSP DRIED FINES HERBES (MIXED CHOPPED HERBS) 1 EGG 1 TSP WATER 1 17-1/2 OZ PACKAGE FROZEN PUFF PASTRY SHEETS, DEFROSTED ACCORDING TO PACKAGE DIRECTIONS MIX CHEESE WITH HERBS IN BOWL. MAKE AN EGG WASH BY COMBINING THE EGG AND THE WATER IN ANOTHER BOWL. COMBINE TWO SHEETS OF THE DEFROSTED PASTRY AND ROLL INTO A 15 X 20 IN. RECTANGLE. BRUSH HALF THE PASTRY WITH THE WASH AND SPRINKLE A THIRD OF THE CHEESE MIXTURE OVER THIS HALF. FOLD OVER THE REMAINING HALF OF THE DOUGH. BRUSH WITH THE EGG WASH AND SPRINKLE WITH THE REMAINING CHEESE. PLACE A PIECE OF WAX PAPER OVER THE DOUGH, AND FLIP THE DOUGH OVER. BRUSH THE TOP WITH THE EGG WASH AND SPRINKLE WITH REMAINING CHEESE. CUT THE DOUGH LENGTHWISE INTO EQUAL-SIZE STRIPS ABOUT 3 IN. WIDE. CUT EACH STRIP CROSSWISE INTO 3/4 IN. PIECES. HOLDING EACH PIECE WITH BOTH HANDS, TWIST TWICE. COVER 2 BAKING SHEETS WITH PARCHMENT PAPER AND ARRANGE THE TWISTS ON THE PAPER PRESSING DOWN SO THEY STICK TO THE PAPER AND CANNOT UNROLL. ALLOW THEM TO REST FOR 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 15-20 MINTES, LONGER IF NECESSARY, UNTIL THE PASTRY IS DRY BUT NOT BURNED. COOL AND REMOVE FROM PAPER. THE BOW TIES MAY BE MADE AHEAD OF TIME AND FROZEN UNBAKED. BEFORE SERVING, REMOVE FROM FREEZER PUT THEM DIRECTLY INTO OVEN AND BAKE SLIGHTLY LONGER. YIELD:60-70 PIECES
