For the person who wanted to get rid of the prickly pear cactus, incase of no success. 3.25 C juice from cooked fruit juice 2 lemons 1 bottle liquid pectin 8 C (3.5lbs) sugar Remove thorns and blossom ends from 3 lbs fruit. (my friend uses a propane torch). Cut fruit in small pieces. Crush and add 1 C water. Stir til boiling. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Place in cheese cloth bag and squeeze juice out. Measure juice into large sauce pan, add lemon juice and pectin. Measure sugar into another pan. Bring juice and pectin to a boil. Stir constantly. Add sugar slowly, while stirring and maintaining boil. Takes about 5 minutes. Then at full roiling boil cook for .5 minute. Pour into hot jelly jars. Makes 4 pints. It's supposed to be delicious. I didn't hear from anyone on a cake with heath bars. So if someone can find the recipe I'd really appreciate it.
